Introducing Ms Maggie White, member of the International Programme and Drafting Committee
Maggie White is a Senior policy expert – Manager of International Policy and Processes at SIWI and co-chair of Alliance for Global Water Adaptation. She is dedicated to influencing the UNFCCC process in order to mainstream water issues in the Climate Agenda, support and coordinate the water community in order to engage it in the climate discussions and the MPGCA (Marrakech Partnership Global Climate Action Agenda), the NDC Partnership; liaising with COP presidencies and Climate champions; steering committee member of ClimateIsWater. She is also responsible for organizing the high level plenaries at World Water Week, contributing to making it an agenda setting moment. She enjoys initiating and building partnerships and ensures water’s visibility within the 2030 Agenda and HLPW processes; advisory to the Rockefeller Foundation in developing their influential strategic framework for resilient freshwater management.
Maggie White initiated and coordinated the European based CSO network “European Pact for Water” with Borda and Woman for Water Partnership (WfWP) and the European Process with the Portuguese government for the 8th World Water Forum.
Until December 2018 she was an Executive Board Member of French Water Partnership (development of their climate strategy and implementation, initiator and focal point for mainstreaming strategic actions at the European level.
Between November 2010 and November 2015 she was the Secretary General of the International Secretariat for Water (Canada) and Solidarity Water Europe (France) (ISW-SWE). From January 2008-October she was responsible for External communications at Eau de Paris, the water utility service public company of the City of Paris.
From July 2001, until December 2007 Ms White was also Coordinator of international partnerships and advocacy and Board Member of Eau Vive International, France.
Besides these, she was a founding member and coordinator of the Butterfly Effect, international network of 120 organizations advocating for CSO’s voice within the World Water Fora and a dedicated goal for water in the UN SDG process; founder and the spokesperson for the World Youth Parliament for Water, international youth network of over 100 youth organizations in 80 countries coordinated by the ISW and founder of Coalition Eau, the French network of development NGOs dedicated to water and sanitation.
