Report of the Budapest Water Summit outcomes in Paris

On 14 November 2013, H.E. Katalin Bogyay, Hungary’s Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO in Paris presented the outcomes of the Budapest Water Summit at an event for the Special Programme on the International Year of Water Cooperation, organised in the framework of the 37th Session of the General Conference at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO opened the event, where Permanent Delegates to UNESCO  of countries actively participating in the International Year of Water Cooperation, including Hungary, introduced their programmes and conferences that took place in 2013.

Business breakfasts about sustainable development

The Business Council for Sustainable Development in Hungary, the Dutch-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hungary and the Swiss-Hungarian Chamber of Commerce jointly organised a business breakfast on 11 October in the Hotel Budapest Marriott. The guest speaker of the event was Joppe Cramwinckel, Water Programme Director for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and Chair of the Business Leaders Forum of the Budapest Water Summit.

Budapest Water Summit closed

On 11 October 2013, the Budapest Water Summit ended with the adoption of the Budapest Statement at the closing plenary session, followed by the closing press conference held by H.E. János Martonyi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary and Doğan Altinbilek, Vice President of the World Water Council.

Water walk experience created by Hungarian Interchurch Aid at the Budapest Water Summit

UN leaders, ministers from all parts of the world, princes, professors and well-known Hungarian and international public figures may join Hungarian Interchurch Aid’s awareness raising action.

Attraction to open the Budapest Water Summit

The performance of Attraction will open the Budapest Water Summit on October 8. Attraction, winners of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, have been rehearsing their performance planned specially for this occasion and based on the topic of water for weeks. The internationally acclaimed Hungarian dance artists, led by Zoltán Szűcs, were asked to perform by János Áder, President of Hungary.

Photography is not allowed during the production, the maximum length of video records exclusively for the purpose of giving coverage of the event is 30 seconds. Illegal publishing of photos may raise criminal law and civil law liability as well.

The Film Festival of Life-Giving Water is starting

The Film Festival of Life-Giving Water is starting tomorrow night (October 3) in the Urania National Film Theatre in Budapest with a light show. Street lights will be turned off around Rákóczi street 21. at 18:45 and three projectors will screen the show on the building of the Theatre from the balcony of the house across the street. Further visual surprises will await guests arriving for the opening in the lobby and the hall. Theatre-goers can watch the films screened during the Festival from 3-6 October free of charge.
