Raging floods in China

At least 4 people have died in Hunan Province in the south of China, and another 4 people are unaccounted for due to the heavy rains and flooding that lasted for two days. Almost 145 thousand people had to be evacuated.

According to a statement from the province’s authorities on Thursday, over a million people suffered some damage in 10 cities and 51 counties, the harvest has been destroyed in an area of 59,300 hectares and about two thousand houses have collapsed. The material damage is estimated at 756 million Yuan (32.3 billion forints).

Reports of severe damage caused by heavy rainfall have also come in from the provinces of Jinagxi in Eastern China, Guizhou and Guangdong in the South, and the autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang. The torrential rain caused floods and landslides everywhere.
