Csillaghegyi Bath and Swimming Pool

Csillaghegyi Bath is one of the oldest beaches of Budapest which started its operation in the second half of the 19th century. Located in an impressive green environment, it has three pools in a 90,000 square meters of landscaped park.

At the beginning, in the 19th century, the waters of the springs gushing from below flowed into a brick-lined pool and the water from the pool drove a mill. Interestingly, the first wave pool of the country was operating in Csillaghegy, between 1925 and 1945. It attained its present form in 2000 following a huge modernisation and reconstruction project.

Although the bath is in the outskirts of the city, it is easy to get there. The beach, full of impressive ancient trees has been built stepwise on the hill-side. The swimming pool and a leisure pool are on the first level and children’s paddling pool and sunbathing area are on the next. A real speciality is that its 33 meter swimming pool and sauna stay open during winter under a tent roof.
