International Association of Hydrological Sciences – IAHS

The predecessor of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) was founded in 1922. Over its almost 100 years of existence, the organisation has conducted a scientific investigation of the issues associated with water resources, floods, droughts, water pollution and erosion, using the toolkit of science and technology to deal with the increasingly severe challenges associated with water.

At present, the Association has over 7000 members from almost 200 countries, to whom it offers a wide range of programmes, conferences, workshops, online forums and IAHS publications. Members receive regular information about the programmes and current activities of the IAHS, and they can purchase the publications of the Association at a discount, while those in the poorest countries receive free online subscriptions to the monthly Hydrological Sciences Journal and other discounts. Membership is free, information about registration is available at the IAHS website.
