The Green Pack multimedia educational toolkit

Green Pack is a multimedia environmental educational kit for teaching children between the ages of 11 and 14 about environmental protection and sustainable development. Since its launch in 2002, it has been translated into 20 languages including Hungarian. The water chapter is in itself an excellent source of the most important water related topics, containing lesson plans and entertaining tests, games and films.

The publisher is the Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), an independent, non-profit international organisation which was established in 1990 by Hungary, the United States of America and the European Commission. REC is active in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond, and has its head office in Szentendre, Hungary, and offices throughout the region with a staff of close to 200, representing some 30 nationalities.

The main mission of REC is on the one hand to promote the solving of environmental problems by encouraging the cooperation between governments and other environmental stakeholders, and on the other hand by promoting the free exchange of information and public participation in environmental decision making.

REC implements around 300 projects annually. One of its most important accomplishments in recent years was the Green Pack multimedia educational toolkit dealing in 23 chapters with air, water, soil and biological diversity. The publication can be downloaded together with lesson plans, tests, games and videos and the online version can be watched in English language, too.

Its water chapter presents the most important questions related to water and the specific related issues of the Central-Eastern-European countries in detail and in an entertaining fashion.

The full teacher’s handbook is also available for download.
