Young, socially-mobile entrepreneurs started using derelict buildings as bars. Often these locations were up to a hundred years old and had distinguished pasts as former shops, residential blocks and all sort of other buildings. Refitted with quirky décor, including street-style artworks often composed by local artists, and furnished with oddball chairs and tables, such as mismatched armchairs, upside down lamps “hanging” from the floor and Szimpla Kert’s famous Trabant car-seat. Other notables include Instant, Grandio and Fogas Ház. Come with an open mind and plenty of time to relax and enjoy the unusual setting!
